Currency & Exchange

Qatar's currency is pegged to the US Dollar and the exchange rate is 1USD : 3.64 Qatari Riyals.

Riyal notes issued as 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500, while dirham coins are minted in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 but you may spend a month here and never see a coin. So don't be surprised if you are handed a pack of gum instead of a 50 Dirham.

In Qatar you will find local and international banks with branches and ATMs all across Doha, however not all ATMs take foreign cards. Banking hours Banking hours are 07:30-13:00 Sunday thru Thursday although some branches are open in the afternoon.

There are plenty of currency exchange and remittence bureaus that typically operate seven days a week from 08:00-12:00 and reopen 16:00-20:00 except Friday mornings.

But never fear, most major credit cards are accepted throughout the country.
