The State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain have underlined keenness on developing and enhancing their bilateral relations to serve the common interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples. This came in a statement issued on Tuesday 6 May 2008 at the close of the eighth session of the Qatari-Bahraini Higher Joint Cooperation Committee, held in Manama under the co-chairmanship of H H the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Bahraini Regent and Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missnad, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) attended in the evening of Thursday 8 May 2008 the graduation ceremony of the first batch of students from the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.
The Qatar Red Crescent Association (QRC) announced it will send the first consignment of aid materials to the Cyclone Nargis-hit Myanmar soon. QRC will initially send items like tents and drinking water worth US$ 250,000 to the affected people.
With plans to dispatch a total of 80 tonnes of relief materials worth $1 million, QRC hopes the aids will help assisting the basic needs of 15,000 families (75,000 individuals in total).
