Health Cards

In order to receive medical treatment from clinics and hospitals, it is necessary for foreign residents to obtain health cards. On payment of a nominal fee (QR 100 per person), these are issued by the nearest government clinic (you must have a relevant residence permit). Health cards must be shown on all government clinic and hospital visits.

To Obtain a Health Card
To obtain a health card at a health card office you will need the following:-

  • Photocopies of your passport and visa or your ID

  • Two photographs (4cm x 3cm)

  • One off application and registration fee of QR 100

  • Health card receipt/reference no.

You can obtain a health card at a health card office – located either in your clinic, Hamad General or Rumailah Hospital.

As the application form is written in both Arabic and English, it can be completed in either language.  It doesn’t have to be typed, but make sure the information you supply is legible and clear.

You will be given a unique health card number which you can use while you are waiting for your card.  In some cases, your health card can be processed the same day, however most are available within two weeks.

You can also apply or renew your health card at the Qatar general post office or online at www.qpost.com.qa.

To renew your health card you will need to submit 2 passport photographs, a copy of your ID, your expired health card and a fee of QR 100 at your health center.  You can also renew your health card online.

Health cards must be shown on all government clinic and hospital visits.
