 Female Visitors

Women visitors accompanied or alone are allowed to drive and travel freely and usually do not face any problems if the local customs are respected and followed. You must consider your choice of clothing, as bare arms, legs and midriffs are all considered disrespectful, particularly during the month of Ramadan. Women should wear loose trousers or skirts below the knee, modesty will win you more respect.

Sometimes one cannot avoid unwanted stares but if possible simply ignoring it is best. Dressing up conservatively will help avoid extra attention in souqs and other public places.

 Food and Drinks

Use boiled or sterilized water for drinking, brushing teeth or making ice. Powdered or tinned milk is available as well as fresh and pasteurised milk is available at most supermarkets. Only eat well-cooked meat and fish, preferably served hot.

 Tours in Qatar

Most Tour operators in Qatar have a flexible catalogue of tours that you can adapt to your interest. We've listed a few of the tours that are fun to go on.

City Tour
A great place to start exploring this country is it's capital city Doha. Most guided city tours (in air-conditioned buses), take you through the streets, reflecting the growing modern of the city. A visit to the The Equestrian Club, Fruit & Vegetable Market, The sea-front Corniche, Dhow Harbour, Qatar National Museum, Old Market & the Falcon Shops are usually included in this tour.

Camel Track and Oryx Farm
The camel track is an experience not to be missed. While the camel is perhaps the best-known inhabitant of the desert, the Oryx is Qatar's national animal and is found nowhere else in the world in such large numbers. There are a number of reserves that can be visited.

Deep Sea Fishing
The open waters of the Arabian Gulf gives fishing enthusiasts, novices, experts, and everyone in between, a great experience. Most operators provide all the pertinent gear.

Desert Safari
75 kilometers across the southern Qatari desert, 45 of those being off the beaten track, this trip is designed to acquaint visitors with the desert, and professional drivers take you on a roller coaster ride as you propel up sand-dunes and careen down the other side.

Dukhan
Situated on the western coast of Qatar, the town found fame not only for the discovery of rich oil reserves in its vicinity, but also for its beautiful beaches which have remained popular with residents and visitors alike.

Historical Qatar
At the Qatar National Museum, you will be transported through time in exploration of a rich history, and find a diverse and stimulating exhibit on marine life as well. There are also a number of forts and museums all around Qatar that give you a sense of the past through it's distinct architecture.

Dhow Cruising
The harbor cruise in a dhow with a nice view of the lights along the Corniche usually entertains it's guests with  Arabian music and dancing, some even offer dinner aboard.

Shopping Tour
With modern shopping complexes and malls competing with traditional souqs, shopping in Doha is indeed a pleasure.
