Qatar National Theater hosts a number of performances from artists around the gulf and from all over the world. The Local theatre movement has grown immensely since it's inception in the early 50's. The Department of Culture and Arts supervises most of the local troupes. While most of the performances are in Arabic, every now and then there are English performances from international troupes which are well worth going for especially during the cultural festival.
