It is always fun to do up your own place and Doha has many furniture and accessory shops to help you do that. Many companies give their employees furnishing allowance and others a relocation allowance to spend on their choice of furniture.

People in Doha keep arriving and leaving so keep a look out for good second-hand furniture sales. It is common to find lists of saleable items on notice boards in supermarkets.

There are some places where you can get furniture made according to your specifications (specially around the Najma souk) but try and get a few recommendations before you decide.

Also, do some research on market prices before you buy anything so that you know you are getting a bargain.

Electricals
Qatar uses the same voltage and plugs as the UK (220 - 240 volts and 50 Hz) . You may need to use adapters for anything you buy out here, though, because most electrical gadgets here come with 2-pin plugs. You can buy packs of the plastic socket adapters at any supermarket here.
