Cost of Living (All you need to know)
I've had alot of people ask me the same questions when it comes to the cost of living so I compiled a usefull list.
The website is not complete of course but I still thought I'd share it.

Re: Cost of Living (All you need to know)
Thanks...

I think with the ever rising prices and the slow fall in the value of the dollar it's really important to know the cost of living if you intend to move here.

And over the last five years there has been such a tremendous change in prices alot of people have to rethink their reasons for staying here.

Re: Cost of Living (All you need to know)
Hi Amnesia & Lee, I am expat from South Africa with job offer to work in Qatar. I intend buying a property instead of renting - that way at least me and my wife will eventually own the property. I see expats can buy in The Pearl, West Bay Lagoon and Al Khor. I haven't searched the web really - could you give me an indication what cost would be - say 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom? Any other areas where expats can buy? Many thanks, Kobus

Re: Cost of Living (All you need to know)
Hi guys, Iam expat from singapore with job offer to work in qatar, they offer me USD200 per day , 5 days work/week , 8 hrs/day. with additional QR8000 for accommodations and QR3000 for car allowance... i don't hesitate to reveal this package to all of you since i want to know whether this package is good enough for me to survive and save some amount from it. I have 15 yrs of work experience in oil & gas and currently working in locally here singapore with the american company. My intent of moving or finding another job is to satisfy my dreams of working in other countries but same time save some money for my golden years. Anyone can give me advise and idea .. appreciate your honest responds. Thanks a lot.

Re: Cost of Living (All you need to know)

Hi Marcus, I think that is a fairly reasonable package but you have to remember that rents here are really soaring and a rented villa costs anything from 15,000 to 25,000 a month.. If you can get your company to actually give you a villa to stay in instead of the housing allowance it would be a lot better.

Re: Cost of Living (All you need to know)

Hi Kobus, there are three areas you can buy property ... West bay, Losail and Al Khor... the pearl and the lagoon plaza at West bay should be available soon but the rest are yet to be constructed. Keep in mind that this is leasehold property (99 year lease). 1 and 2 bedrooms  range from 1.5 million to 2 million depending on the developer... but prices are on the rise so it could be higher.
