Getting Driving License in Qatar
It was never that difficult to get driving license in Qatar as it has turned out to be this year.
Traffic police is not allowing house-wives to get admission in driving schools. Also those (not just house-wives) who already got admission, are being turned down in every test attempt until they think of using "waasta".

Easing traffic...
I think as this country is growing at an increasingly rapid rate, they are tring to find some way to control the congestion on the roads. I guess after they finish a few of the big road projects they will ease of on the licence restrictions. The traffic these days is bad enough as it is ... imagine what it would be like if they gave away licences easily... more drivers... more cars... alot more traffic...

Re: Getting Driving License in Qatar
Thats right Lee.. sounds a valid reason.
But dont you think until all major road projects get completed, Mowaslat should put more taxis on the road.
I miss the white/orange taxis. Atleast we used to get 'em on the road..
Mowaslat guys are too busy and have run short of taxis to meet the commuting demands of Doha.
Its a real problem for house wives who need to go somewhere but cant drive (no license), can get a tax (mowaslat too busy) and their husbands are at work :)

I totally agree.
The country has to come up with some kind of solution to the lack of easily accessable and reasonably priced taxis. And they have to do it fast, or they will find it to be a real deterrent to their image as the fastest developing country this part of the globe... Transport is a basic ammenity that should be readily and easily available to all.

Re: Getting Driving License in Qatar
I heard that they are implementing harsh punishment for traffic violators, and still they didn't even bother to give any solutions on public transportation, and right now for people who has no private transportation, they have to wait in the sun for a taxi, and on the side of the road you cannot even see any waiting shade for people. This is becoming a big problem for commuters.

Points system?
Is it true that traffic department has introduced points system on traffic violations?
I mean, you lose points for your license for every violation?

Hi.
All the views are right. Mowasalat really needs to gear up itself.
However you can try with the Mowasalt driving school. They have special batches only for women. I have heard that the number of candidates clearing the tests here is more than any other.
Try..
