West-Eastern Divan Orchestra Concert

| Eighty-five young Arab and Israeli musicians comprising the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra will feature in a concert for the first time at the Qatar National Theatre following an invitation from the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage. The performance will feature Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A major D 667 (“The Trout”), with Daniel Barenboim at the piano, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E flat major op.55 (“Eroica”). The orchestra, founded by Daniel Barenboim, its Argentine-Israeli conductor and pianist, and Edward Said, the late Palestinian-American literary critic, was based on encouraging dialogue and exchanging ideas through music. |
